Summary

Keller-Harvel Elementary is a PK-4 school in Keller, TX, serving 464 students within the highly-rated Keller Independent School District (Isd), where it consistently ranks in the top 10-15% of Texas elementary schools and maintains a favorable student-to-teacher ratio of about 14.9:1.

One of the most striking findings is that for four consecutive years, 100% of Keller-Harvel’s 5th-grade students have scored proficient on the STAAR Mathematics exam—a perfect score that far exceeds the district average of 56-61%. Since the school only goes up to 4th grade, this suggests the foundational math skills taught here are so strong that students continue to excel a full year after moving to a different intermediate school. While nearby schools like Willis Lane Elementary and Hidden Lakes Elementary also achieve near-perfect math scores (97-100%), Keller-Harvel’s consistency at 100% is unique among its immediate peers. The school also excels in supporting its Asian student population, ranking in the 97th percentile statewide for this subgroup in the most recent year.

Keller-Harvel is a solid, high-performing school, but it sits in a "middle ground" among its neighbors—clearly outperforming schools like Caprock Elementary, Freedom Elementary, and Woodland Springs Elementary, but not reaching the elite status of Willis Lane or Hidden Lakes, which rank in the top 2% of Texas schools. Notably, the school has experienced a sharp decline in support for its Hispanic students, dropping from the 93rd percentile to the 52nd percentile over two years, and its support for Special Education students has been inconsistent, fluctuating from the 68th to the 45th to the 83rd percentile in recent years. Spending per student at Keller-Harvel ($11,206) is higher than at Willis Lane ($9,812) but lower than at Hidden Lakes ($12,028), suggesting that instructional quality and school culture, rather than funding alone, drive outcomes.

Open Quote We love KHES! All staff members provide positive experiences and really care about the kids, parents, and community. They go beyond the call of duty to do what is best for each student while providing an exceptional education. Close Quote

Open Quote The music teacher alone is enough reason to attend this school. She is not the normal, watch a video sing a song type teacher as what is offered by the other elementary schools. She plays the piano, flute, recorder, and has a lot of drums for the kids to bang on. There is even an outdoor music garden in a peaceful setting. The other teachers are caring and push the kids to be their best. This school would be rated higher if it were not for the financially challenged and mentally challenged student KISD seems to collect in this single location. Even with that challenge the school is great, the kinds get a well rounded experience, and the place is safe and homey. Close Quote

Open Quote This is my third elementary school that my children have attended in KellerISD. The administrative staff is much more involved than at the other schools and I feel welcomed on campus. The teachers go above and beyond and will work with the parents to push their children to their potential. Close Quote

Open Quote This school does not have enough staff to monitor all of the students who attend. Often the lunch room and playground are monitored by only two people. The classrooms have no aids, and so there is only one teacher watching a class of twenty plus students. Close Quote
