Summary

Woodcreek Elementary is a large, high-performing public school in Katy, TX, serving 1,301 students from Pre-K through 5th grade as part of the highly-regarded Katy Independent School District (Isd). This school has earned a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger for ten consecutive years, consistently ranking in the top 7% of all Texas elementary schools. With a student-to-teacher ratio of about 15:1 and only 20% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch, Woodcreek serves a relatively affluent community and delivers reliable, top-tier academic performance year after year.

What truly sets Woodcreek apart is its exceptional performance in specific areas. For example, its 5th-grade Science scores are outstanding: 59.36% of students were proficient in the 2024-2025 school year, nearly double the state average of 29.57% and significantly higher than the district average of 46.19%. This is the highest Science proficiency rate among nearby schools, including strong competitors like Jenks Elementary (69.2%) and Ray And Jamie Wolman Elementary (63.21%). Additionally, Woodcreek demonstrates remarkable support for English Language Learners (ELL), with these students ranking in the 96th percentile statewide in the 2025-2026 school year—a stark contrast to nearby Zelma Hutsell Elementary, which serves a higher-needs population but struggles to achieve similar outcomes.

While Woodcreek excels overall, there are a few nuances to note. Its state ranking has seen a slight dip from the 97th-98th percentile to the 93rd percentile in the 2025-2026 school year, a trend worth monitoring but not alarming. Also, Asian students ranked in only the 64th percentile statewide, earning a 3-star rating, which is the lowest-performing subgroup at the school. Despite this, Woodcreek remains part of a remarkable cluster of high-performing schools in the area, including Keiko Davidson Elementary and Roberta Wright Rylander Elementary, all within a 3-mile radius. This suggests a highly supportive and academically focused community, with Woodcreek standing out as the most consistently high-performing over the longest period.

Open Quote I was very impressed and pleased that my child would come home from school and say that she had a great day at school! The staff was very helpful and was easy to communicate with. I love the fact that there were many artistic contests, but yet the school wasn't too competitive. I feel like after this year my child has learned the importance of trying her best and to do well in school. The discipline was good I liked the fact that the staff was very rewarding to good behavior! (: my child was one of the shier ones and the teachers were very respectful of that! Close Quote

Open Quote The teachers at this school love kids. Many come to their ballgames and get involved in the kids lives. I am so happy to be a part of this school. We went through a lot of work to be a part of this school and it was all well worth it. I can't wait for my younger children to enter in the years to come. AND...they have had the state's highest performance rating since they opened in 2007. This is not something every new school can accomplish. We are blessed to be a part of WCE! Close Quote
