Summary

Morton Ranch J H is a public middle school located in Katy, Texas, serving grades 6-8 with a total enrollment of 1,185 students. It is part of the Katy Independent School District (ISD), which is ranked 172 out of 961 districts in Texas and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Morton Ranch J H consistently underperforms compared to the Katy ISD and Texas state averages in STAAR test scores across various subjects and grade levels, the school excels in STAAR EOC Algebra I, with 91.01% of students proficient or better, significantly higher than the Katy ISD (71.08%) and Texas (47.01%) averages. The school's performance varies across different student subgroups, with relatively strong results for African American students but challenges with Asian and multi-racial student groups. The high percentage of economically disadvantaged students at Morton Ranch J H (over 75%) suggests that socioeconomic factors may play a significant role in the school's academic challenges.

When compared to other Katy ISD middle schools, Morton Ranch J H generally performs worse academically, with lower STAAR test scores across most subjects and grade levels. Schools like Memorial Parkway J H and Katy J H consistently outperform Morton Ranch J H in academic metrics. To improve, the school should focus on enhancing its overall academic performance, particularly in STAAR Reading and Mathematics, and explore strategies to support its diverse student population, especially economically disadvantaged students.

Open Quote Hi i transfred to this school for my Eigth grade year and i must say i was not very impressed! The teachers go very soft on the students and i got an A in every class..but somehow more than half the class finds a way to fail it. No homework is given out, at least never for me and the gym teachers especially let us sit and talk the whole year! For our mile run, we were completely unprepared. The studens are rude, have no self respect or disipline, and don't know how to act! Alot of fights break out. THere is also alot of drama, rumors, and all that nonsence! No one wants to learn anything! The extra curricular activites and sports are preety goood(:Principals and admins are ok...i don't know if you and your child take their education serriously then this is not the school for you...but if you don't then sure go ahead Close Quote
