Summary

Davis Elementary is a PK-5 public school in Irving, TX, serving 831 students within the Irving Independent School District (Isd), and it has consistently ranked in the bottom 10% of Texas elementary schools over the past five years, currently sitting in the 3rd percentile statewide.

This school faces significant academic challenges, particularly in mathematics, where 5th-grade proficiency was just 18.85% in the 2025-2026 school year—far below the state average of 47.38% and the lowest among nearby schools. For comparison, Brandenburg Elementary, located just 2.74 miles away and serving a similar demographic, achieved a 59.57% proficiency rate in the same subject. Davis also struggles to support students at both ends of the academic spectrum, with Special Education and Gifted and Talented rankings dropping to the 1st percentile. However, there is a notable bright spot: the school ranks in the 52nd percentile for serving English Language Learner (ELL) students, a stark contrast to its overall performance and suggesting effective strategies for this group.

Interestingly, Davis shows stronger results on Spanish-language STAAR tests compared to English versions, indicating that its bilingual programs may be relatively effective, though this success doesn't translate to the English assessments that drive state rankings. The school's per-student spending ($10,110) is in line with higher-performing peers like Brandenburg ($10,306), suggesting that financial resources are not the primary issue. Instead, the sustained downward trend—from a 39th percentile ranking in 2015-2016 to just 3rd in 2025-2026—points to systemic challenges that have not been effectively addressed over nearly a decade.
