Summary

Farine Elementary is a large PK-5 school in Irving, TX, serving 916 students in the Irving Independent School District (Isd), where over 80% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The school earns a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger for the 2025-2026 school year, ranking in the 36th percentile statewide, which places it as a relative bright spot compared to nearby schools like Johnston Elementary and Good Elementary.

Farine Elementary stands out for its exceptional performance in 5th Grade Reading, where 65.17% of students were proficient in 2025-2026—far above the district average of 38.5% and the highest among comparable nearby schools, including Brandenburg Elementary (54.64%). The school also shows strong support for its Special Education students, who ranked in the 70th percentile statewide in 2025-2026, a dramatic improvement from the 22nd percentile two years prior. However, math performance is inconsistent, with 4th-grade math being a persistent weakness (31.48% proficient vs. 49.28% state average), while 5th-grade math is a relative strength (42.7% proficient).

An interesting pattern is the consistent "5th Grade Bump" in reading, where 5th graders significantly outperform 3rd and 4th graders, suggesting a highly effective teaching team or intervention program at that grade level. The school's overall ranking has shown a positive trajectory, recovering from a low of the 25th percentile in 2021-2022 to its current 36th percentile. Additionally, Farine's Spanish-language test scores often exceed district averages, indicating a bilingual program that may be more effective than those at neighboring schools like Lee Elementary or Keyes Elementary.

Open Quote This school should be ranked at the top of school rankings! It is an excellent school! I have four children and all four went to great schools out-of-state before moving here. I was concerned about this school when I drove up because of the old building and surrounding neighborhood, and even arranged for my children to attend a school in another district for a year to avoid this school. That is now a big regret because Farine is a hidden gem! The teachers are above average. The staff is excellent, and their Title 1 status actually gives them more resources than most schools. Mr. Bird should win teacher of the year. He awoke the desire to learn within my youngest child and she has excelled ever since. We cannot say enough good about this school and its teachers! They also have excellent extracurricular and after-school programs. Close Quote

Open Quote Hi,
This is a nice school with very good teachers. My daughter joined this school when she was in 3rd grade and as we are new to US,she needed extra help in most of the subjects. I really appreciate the way teachers helped her and even before the end of 3rd year she was off the Tutorials and even got an award for academic performance. Close Quote
