Summary

Glen Rose High School is a high-performing public school in Glen Rose, TX, serving 643 students in grades 9-12 as part of the top-rated Glen Rose Independent School District (Isd), which ranks in the 91st percentile of all Texas school districts. The school boasts a near-perfect graduation rate of 98.4% and a dropout rate of just 0.3%, far outperforming nearby schools like Granbury High School (93.2% graduation, 0.7% dropout) and Brazos River Charter School (75.9% graduation, 3.0% dropout). With a favorable student-to-teacher ratio of 13.4:1 and a consistent 4-star rating from Schooldigger over the past decade, Glen Rose stands out as a stable, excellent choice for families seeking a traditional high school education.

Academically, Glen Rose excels in core subjects like English and Biology, with proficiency rates on STAAR End-of-Course exams that dramatically exceed state averages. For example, 90.14% of students were proficient in Biology in 2025-2026, compared to the state average of 70.51% and Granbury's 75.71%. However, the school shows a notable weakness in Algebra I, where only 50.63% of students were proficient—below the state average of 54.03% and far behind Tolar High School's 75.51% proficiency. This "Algebra I anomaly" suggests a potential area for curriculum focus, especially since Tolar, located just 14 miles away, is a strong rival with a perfect 100% graduation rate and more consistent performance across all subjects.

Glen Rose also demonstrates strong support for students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, ranking in the 89th percentile statewide for this subgroup, indicating effective efforts to close achievement gaps. The school's performance for special education students has improved significantly, rising from the 7th percentile in 2023-2024 to the 61st percentile in 2025-2026, though this remains a challenge. Overall, Glen Rose is an academic powerhouse in a region where many nearby schools, such as Stars Accelerated High School and Brazos River Charter School, struggle with low rankings and high dropout rates, making it a clear "destination school" for families prioritizing high-quality education.

Open Quote I did once ten years ago go to this school and graduated. When I went to this school, they didn't allow students to wear clothes that can show everything you got on your body. They now allow students to wear clothes especially girls that don't cover much of there skin. It's not something that anyone should allow a kid to wear in public or school. They need to change this. It's gross. Good school good teachers Close Quote
