Summary

Bright Academy is an elementary school located in Frisco, Texas, serving grades PK-5 with a total enrollment of 468 students. It is part of the Frisco Independent School District, which is ranked 31 out of 961 districts in Texas and has a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Bright Academy's academic performance, as measured by STAAR test scores, is generally lower than the district and state averages, indicating room for improvement. The school's statewide ranking has fluctuated significantly over the years, ranging from 1211 to 3966 out of around 4,600 Texas elementary schools. While the school has a relatively low student-to-teacher ratio of around 12-13 students per teacher, its per-student spending of around $10,000 is higher than the state average but lower than some nearby Vaughn Elementary, Rogers Elementary, and Smith Elementary schools in the Frisco ISD.

Bright Academy serves a diverse student population, with a significant percentage of economically disadvantaged students. The school's performance on STAAR tests varies across different student subgroups, with Asian and African American students generally outperforming their Hispanic and White peers. This highlights the need for the school to address any underlying factors that may be contributing to these achievement gaps and to implement targeted interventions and support programs to enhance student learning and success.

Open Quote We moved our son to Bright Academy from another IB school when it converted in 2018-2019 school year. The education is individualized for the student. The teacher culture is positive, upbeat and compassionate. You can really tell the teachers are experts in education and IB, empathetic and really care about each child. My son's scores went up 10-15 points putting him in the top 90's to 100. I was also provided a lot of detail around his levels and how he was doing through the year. There are no surprises which I appreciate. The school is also quick to respond and address questions, concerns or to provide generally clarity on anything. I love Bright Academy and Mrs. Dodon's team. I am so sad that he will be moving to Middle School. The info here isn't totally accurate. I would recommend visiting the school and seeing for yourself.
