Mission Bend Glen Elementary

Mission Bend Glen Elementary is a PK-5 school in the Fort Bend Independent School District (Isd) serving 460 students in a high-poverty corridor of Houston, TX, where over 82% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Despite the progress, Mission Bend Glen faces persistent challenges. Mathematics remains a critical weakness, with 4th and 5th-grade math scores (33.33% and 37.93% proficient) trailing behind the district (57.04% and 54.67%) and state averages, as well as behind Barbara Jordan Elementary (52.46% and 74.6% proficient). Additionally, 5th-grade science scores are universally low across the area, with Mission Bend Glen at just 10.29% proficiency. The school's gains are especially noteworthy given it achieves them with fewer financial resources per pupil than its higher-performing charter neighbors, making its turnaround story compelling but highlighting the need to urgently address math and science to ensure sustainable success for all students.
