Summary

E A Jones Elementary is a PK-5 school in Missouri City, TX, serving 536 students within the Fort Bend Independent School District (Isd), where over 81% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. This school has undergone a remarkable turnaround, jumping from the 33rd percentile statewide in 2024-2025 to the 50th percentile in 2025-2026, earning a 3-star rating after years of ranking in the bottom 20% of Texas elementary schools. This sustained improvement over the last three years makes it a standout in the area, especially compared to nearby schools like Edgar Glover Junior Elementary and Dr Lynn Armstrong Elementary, which have similar demographics but have not shown the same growth.

The most dramatic academic improvement is in 3rd Grade Reading, where proficiency soared from 27% in 2022-2023 to 63.79% in 2025-2026—now above both the district (61.91%) and state (51.08%) averages. The school also excels in supporting its low socio-economic status students, ranking in the 67th percentile in 2025-2026, a huge jump from the 20th percentile three years prior. Additionally, special education students rank in the 65th percentile, up from the 17th percentile in 2022-2023. In 5th Grade Spanish Reading, 45.45% of students are proficient, significantly higher than the district (34.09%) and state (34.82%) averages, suggesting that Spanish-speaking students catch up as they progress through the grades.

Despite these successes, mathematics remains a critical weakness, with proficiency rates around 40% across all grades in 2025-2026, well below the district average of about 55%. The school invests $12,940 per student and maintains a favorable student-teacher ratio of 13.3:1, which is lower than many nearby schools like Stafford Elementary (19.2:1). While Gross Elementary in Houston Independent School District (Isd) shows strength in math, E A Jones now outperforms its immediate Fort Bend ISD peers in early literacy, making it a school to watch for continued progress.

Open Quote E A Jones isn't what it used to be! It is now consistent with low test score ranking in both county and state. Teachers should have aides to assist them with their larger classrooms. It seems understaffed. Children are not allowed to use the restrooms freely in the smaller age groups. Teachers would rather enable a 7yr old child to suffer embarrassment of peeing on self in front of other students just because their too lazy to address the child needs. I feel that an educator should be well balanced in lesson plans, guidance, patience and just general concern for the children while in their care. When complaints are addressed nothing is ever resolved. This is my child 1st year here and will be the last. Absolutely the worse!! Close Quote
