Tradition Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom quartile of Texas elementary schools, with a 1-star rating for most of the past 5 school years.

For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, only 31.65% of 3rd graders were proficient or better in STAAR reading, compared to 52.02% statewide. The school's performance is particularly low in math and science, with only 15.79% of 5th graders proficient or better in STAAR science. Tradition Elementary also has a higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students (61.88% in 2023-2024) compared to the state average, and it spends $9,362 per student, which is slightly higher than the state average but lower than some of the nearby schools in the La Vernia Independent School District and Judson Independent School District.

The nearby schools, such as La Vernia Intermediate, Oak Crest Elementary, and Idea Converse Academy, generally outperform Tradition Elementary on academic measures, despite serving similar student populations. This suggests that Tradition Elementary may be able to learn from the practices and strategies employed by these higher-performing schools to address its own challenges and improve student outcomes.

Open Quote One of the teacher's aides was too rough with my special needs son leaving him with bruises on his arm. I no longer felt safe sending him here. After the CPS case closed some of the staff became very cold and petty towards me and they sent my son away to another school. Close Quote
