Summary

Hancock Elementary is a PK-5 school in Houston, TX, serving 749 students within the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (Isd).

Hancock Elementary is facing significant academic challenges, with a statewide ranking that has steadily declined over the past decade to its lowest point at the 23rd percentile. This performance is notably lower than nearby CFISD schools like Matzke Elementary, Yeager Elementary, and Moore Elementary, which rank in the 35th-51st percentile range. The contrast is even starker when compared to schools just a few miles away in the Klein Independent School District (Isd), such as Brill Elementary, which ranks in the 90th percentile. A particularly concerning trend is the performance of male students, who ranked in the 10th percentile statewide in the most recent year, a dramatic drop from the 28th percentile the year before. Mathematics scores are critically low, with only about 25-30% of 3rd and 5th graders meeting proficiency, which is roughly 20 percentage points below the district average.

Interestingly, the school demonstrates a remarkable ability to serve its Gifted and Talented students, who rank in the 93rd percentile. This success, however, stands in stark contrast to the performance of nearly every other subgroup, particularly students from low socio-economic backgrounds. The school's per-student spending is in line with its CFISD peers and higher than some higher-performing schools, suggesting that the issue is not a lack of funding but rather how resources are allocated and instruction is delivered. Without a targeted intervention to address core instruction in mathematics and the specific needs of its male student population, the school's downward trend is likely to continue.

Open Quote Failure as people who work in education system, a 10 years old child have been running them like her slaves , teachers are crying that AP or the Principle itself don’t do anything, for the last 2 years they had me leave message and never called back, today I managed to talk to front desk 4 times within 30 minutes and they failed to even get anywhere with me, They told my wife if she don’t leave the call CFISD police, so I begged them to do so when I’m going there, but now that I think about it, these people in this location don’t even worth of a time of any parents or students for that matter, failure to be not only professionals but simple workers in their line of duty
I’m disappointed to see workers like that failing miserably our Children and the Education system…
I hope no other parents or child goes through what we dealt with, and if you are, don’t feel bad as you’re not alone, this is their system of work at this location.
That’s all folks Close Quote
