Summary

Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, TX, is a large, established school serving over 3,200 students in grades 9-12 within the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (Isd), and it consistently ranks as a solid, above-average performer in a district with a wide range of school outcomes.

Cy-Fair High School stands out as a reliable "middle ground" option, outperforming several nearby schools while serving a more economically diverse student body than its highest-performing neighbors. For example, it significantly surpasses Cypress Falls High School (55th percentile), Cypress Creek High School (48th percentile), and Cypress Ridge High School (41st percentile) in overall state rankings. The school excels in core subjects like Biology (82% proficient) and English (68% proficient), which are well above state averages. However, a key area of concern is Algebra I, where only 47.9% of students are proficient—a rate below the state average and a persistent challenge that contrasts sharply with its other strong academic results. The school also maintains a strong graduation rate, consistently around 93-94%, indicating it effectively keeps students on track.

While Cy-Fair High School performs exceptionally well for some student groups, it shows a clear need for improvement in supporting others. The school is particularly effective for its White students (89th percentile) and has strong results for Asian and Multi-racial students. However, it struggles significantly with its English Language Learner (ELL) students, who rank in the 44th percentile, and its economically disadvantaged students rank in the 69th percentile. This performance gap highlights an important area for the school to focus on to ensure all students achieve at high levels. Overall, Cy-Fair offers a strong, stable academic environment, especially for families seeking a school that performs well above its lower-performing neighbors while serving a more diverse community than top-tier schools like Cypress Ranch High School or Cypress Woods High School.

Open Quote I am very proud of the accomplishments of Cyfair High School and the Principals and Teachers who work with our children. I have been at the school many times and find the young people are well behaved for such a large school. It is great to see the pride the students take in their school and the attention teachers give to them. If we had more schools like CyFair High School, we would see more productive citizens.
