Summary

Linder Elementary is a public elementary school in Austin, Texas, serving 549 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Austin Independent School District (AISD), which is ranked 578 out of 961 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Linder Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom quartile of Texas elementary schools, with a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger over the past 10 years. The school significantly underperforms the AISD and Texas state averages in STAAR proficiency rates across all grade levels and subject areas, particularly in mathematics. For example, in 2024-2025, only 5.77% of 3rd graders and 17.57% of 5th graders at Linder met proficiency standards in math, compared to around 45% for AISD and the state. Linder's performance on STAAR Spanish assessments is also very low, with proficiency rates often below 20% and sometimes 0% across grade levels and subjects.

While Linder Elementary serves a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, the school's academic performance is significantly lower than many nearby schools, including Dawson Elementary, Rodriguez Elementary, and public charter schools like KIPP Austin Obras and Harmony School of Innovation - Austin. This suggests that factors beyond student demographics, such as instructional quality, school leadership, and resource allocation, may be playing a role in Linder's underperformance.

Open Quote My child has attended this school for three years now, and we will be glad to leave the end of this school year. Movies are watched at least once a week during the regular school year, and the teachers are ineffective at best and apathetic at worst. communication with the teachers is a joke, and I doubt my child's teacher could have described what my child looked like at the last parent teacher conference. Open Quote This is an exceptional Blue Ribbon Elementary. The teachers at this school are caring, and wonderfull. My daughter attends pre-K at this school, with Mrs.Barbosa, and I have to say, that not only has she learned a lot in her class (which she really enjoys) but I could also tell that the teacher, and Child Inc. aid that was assigned to her classroom, really cared, and took the time to treat each student as an individual. They reported to me everything that my child was learning and took time out of their bussy schedules to come to my home and talk to me about the progress that she was making, as well as what she had trouble in. This school is marvelous, I rate it 5 stars and definetley recommend it. Thank you Mrs. Barbosa, and her aid Mrs. Ahmed!! Close Quote
