Summary

Newman International Academy Of Arlington is a public charter elementary school in Arlington, TX, serving 663 students in grades PK-6 and operating as part of the Newman International Academy Of Arlington district.

This school stands out as a solid middle-of-the-pack performer in an area where many nearby schools struggle. While its overall 2-star rating places it in the 49th percentile statewide, it significantly outperforms most of its closest neighbors in the Arlington Independent School District (Isd), such as Foster Elementary, Morton Elementary, and Short Elementary, which all rank in the bottom 30% of Texas schools. Newman is particularly effective at supporting students from low socio-economic backgrounds, ranking in the 69th percentile for this group. The school has also shown a strong recovery over the past four years, climbing from a low of the 26th percentile to its current stable position. However, it faces a notable challenge in mathematics, where students consistently underperform the state average across all grade levels. For a compelling comparison, Duff Elementary, located just 1.85 miles away, serves a similar student population but achieves significantly higher results, especially in math, suggesting areas where Newman could improve.

Newman operates more efficiently than many traditional public schools, achieving better results with lower per-student spending. Its story is one of recent stability and recovery, making it a school worth watching for families seeking a charter option that serves a diverse student body effectively, particularly for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. While it may not match the top-tier performance of nearby charters like Arlington Classics Academy - Arkansas Campus, it offers a solid educational choice in a district where many alternatives are struggling.

Open Quote We absolutely love Newman. Our children have been students here for 5 years, and we have had a fantastic experience. Three of our children have graduated from Newman while our fourth is still in high school here. Our kids were fully prepared for college and had a smooth transition academically. The Newman faculty and staff truly love and care for the students. Excellence in academics and character building is their top priority! I highly recommend Newman! Close Quote

Open Quote Very disappointed and disgusted with Newman's leadership and their decision to house elementary students in an uncompleted shopping complex for 2014-2015 school year. I will be very surprised if TEA approved the shopping complex location. There was no prior communication from the school informing parents that students will have to cross major highways to attend classes in a shopping complex. No safety precausions whatsoever, and lack of communication, they left several parents hanging..... with no time to make better choice for their children. As Newman continues to increase the number of students from an average of 15 to 25 per class with no building of its own, it is apparent that the future of the students are not their priorities. High student ratio and higher funding is their top priorities. Pay close attention to their Staar text scores in the last two years with no improvements. As a parent, I am very concern about the future of students at Newman International Academy of Alington. Close Quote
