Summary

Manara Stem Academy - Arlington is a small public charter school in Arlington, TX, serving 271 students in grades PK-8, and it has faced significant academic challenges compared to nearby schools.

Despite its "STEM" focus, the school shows profound weakness in math and science, with only 19% of 3rd graders proficient in math in 2025-2026. This is a stark contrast to nearby schools like Pearcy Stem Academy (58.62% proficient) and Beckham Elementary (45.71% proficient). Overall, Manara ranks in the 13th percentile statewide, while these neighboring schools rank in the top 30%. The school also has a higher student-teacher ratio (17.1:1) and spends significantly less per student ($7,526) compared to high-performing peers like Ashworth Elementary ($11,406). A bright spot is 8th-grade reading, where 72.73% of students were proficient, exceeding the state average. However, the school reports a concerning 2.1% dropout rate for an elementary/middle school, which is over four times the Manara Academy district rate.

For parents, this data suggests that while Manara may offer a charter school environment, its academic outcomes lag significantly behind traditional public schools in the Arlington Independent School District (Isd) and Mansfield Independent School District (Isd). The school serves a predominantly low-income population (70.48% free/reduced lunch), but nearby schools like Beckham Elementary serve a similar demographic (79.59%) while achieving much higher rankings. The school's relative success with African American students and its 8th-grade reading performance are notable, but the overall pattern of low test scores, high dropout rates, and limited resources raises serious questions about its effectiveness, especially for male and white students who perform in the lowest percentiles.

Open Quote The principal doesn't lesson to parents concerns. My child level lowered (was advanced in STAAR) and the principal defend the teacher so much, the teacher screams and picks on my child all the time. Their strategy to pack up themselves is by spreading lies about the student and separate your child from their friends. Close Quote
