Summary

Harmony School Of Excellence - Katy is a public charter school in Katy, TX, serving 1,123 students in grades PK through 8, and it has rapidly become a top academic performer in an area with many strong school options.

This school stands out dramatically from its neighbors. While nearby schools like Robinson Elementary rank in the 68th percentile statewide, Harmony School Of Excellence - Katy has climbed to the 89th percentile, a remarkable three-year upward trend. Its test scores consistently blow past state averages in every grade and subject—for example, 5th-grade reading proficiency hit 88% compared to the state's 58%. Even more impressive, the school excels at supporting all students. African American students rank in the 99th percentile, and students from low-income backgrounds rank in the 96th percentile, showing the school closes achievement gaps that persist elsewhere. This is a stark contrast to schools like Duryea Elementary or Hemmenway Elementary, which serve similar populations but rank in the bottom 30th percentile overall. The school also prepares students for advanced work, with 8th graders scoring 85% proficient in Algebra I and 86% in Biology—far above state averages.

What makes this school a true "rising star" is its ability to achieve these results despite larger class sizes (a 17.9:1 student-teacher ratio, higher than any nearby school). This suggests its success comes from a focused curriculum and strong leadership, not small classes. The only notable hiccup is a dip in 7th-grade math proficiency one year, which quickly recovered. For parents seeking a school that delivers both high overall performance and exceptional support for every child, Harmony School Of Excellence - Katy is a standout choice in the Harmony Public Schools - Houston North district.
