Summary

Sst Willowcreek is a small, PK-6 elementary school in Spring, TX, serving just 186 students as part of the School Of Science And Technology district, and it has achieved one of the most dramatic academic turnarounds in the area, jumping from the bottom 7% of Texas elementary schools in 2020-2021 to the 83rd percentile (4 stars) by 2025-2026.

This school stands out for its remarkable improvement trajectory, especially when compared to nearby schools like Fox Elementary or Zwink Elementary, which have remained stable. Sst Willowcreek has surged from a 0-star rating to a 4-star rating in just four years, a feat not seen in the surrounding Klein Independent School District (Isd) schools. Its math scores are a clear strength, consistently exceeding both the district and state averages—for example, 5th-grade math scores hit 70.73% compared to the state's 47.38%. The school also outperforms its closest neighbor, Schultz Elementary, which has a similar percentage of students receiving free or reduced lunch, in nearly every test category. Additionally, Sst Willowcreek is the only school in the immediate area that serves 6th grade, making it a unique option for families seeking a K-6 environment.

While the school's small size can lead to year-over-year score volatility, the overall trend is powerfully positive. The "Science and Technology" focus appears to be paying off, particularly in mathematics. However, the school's performance with its Gifted and Talented students (62nd percentile) is its lowest subgroup ranking, suggesting its turnaround strategies have been especially effective at supporting students who need the most help. For parents looking at a school that has engineered a true comeback and offers strong math instruction in a small, focused setting, Sst Willowcreek is a compelling choice that stands apart from the larger, more established Klein ISD schools.

Open Quote Horrible, traumatizing experience! We relocated from Honduras and were under the false impression our kids needed private schools. Where we come from private schools are the only way to receive a strong education. We thought charter schools were a good alternative. Our daughter was miserable. The teachers would speak to the principals but the upper management promoted bullying. They refused to remove dangerous children and bullies. Our son was so far behind due to problem children in the classroom who had been removed from other schools. Lucky for us we took our children out of the school and our local public schools are highly rated. Close Quote
