Summary

Ignite Community School - Fallbrook is a small, alternative public charter school in Houston, TX (77014) serving 208 students in grades K-11, and is part of the Texas College Preparatory Academies district. The school serves a predominantly low-income population, with nearly 78% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch, but its overall academic performance is significantly below both its district and state averages, particularly in Mathematics and Science.

The most defining characteristic of Ignite Community School - Fallbrook is its extreme academic underperformance in core subjects. In the 2025-2026 school year, 0% of 6th graders were proficient in Math, and only 4.55% of 5th graders were proficient—a staggering 38-47 percentage points below the state average. Reading proficiency is also low, with only 17.39% of 3rd graders proficient compared to the state average of 51.08%. The school also has a high and volatile dropout rate of 4.9% for the 2023-2024 school year, more than three times higher than its own district average and significantly higher than nearby alternatives like Sst Champions (0.0% dropout rate) and Aristoi Classical Academy-Cypress (4-star rating).

Despite these challenges, the school shows a "bimodal" performance pattern, with occasional flashes of success in specific upper grades. For example, 8th Grade Reading achieved 62.5% proficiency in 2025-2026, above the state average, and 7th Grade Math (30.43%) actually exceeded the state average. However, the stark contrast with nearby, demographically similar high-performing schools like Sst Champions (75.72% free/reduced lunch, 4-star rating) proves that poverty is not destiny and highlights critical gaps in Ignite’s instructional or support model. The school’s volatile performance from year to year suggests inconsistent instruction or high teacher turnover, making it a school in crisis that requires fundamental changes to serve its students effectively.
