Summary

West View School is a small K–8 school in Limestone, Tennessee, serving 267 students as part of Washington County Schools. For the 2025–2026 school year, the school ranked 124th out of 1,019 Tennessee schools, placing it in the 88th percentile with a 4-star rating. This success is not new: West View has climbed from the 21st percentile a decade ago to sustained top-quartile performance since 2022–2023, making it one of the most improved schools in the region.

Academic results are strong across every subject, but the biggest wins are in math and reading. In math, 62.4% of West View students are proficient, compared to 48.9% for Washington County Schools and 43.0% for Tennessee overall. In English language arts, 60.8% are proficient versus 48.2% for the district and 40.6% for the state. The early grades are especially remarkable—about 88% of third graders are proficient in both math and ELA, nearly double district rates. West View also achieves outstanding results with students who often face extra barriers: students from low-income families rank 12th statewide, and students receiving special education services rank 42nd, both earning 5-star ratings.

West View outperforms every nearby school in Washington County, leading Grandview Elementary by about 15 points in math and 18 points in ELA, and Sulphur Springs Elementary by about 9 points in both subjects. The school's main area for improvement is the upper grades: 5th grade math and 8th grade science dip below district averages, though small cohorts can cause year-to-year swings. Chronic absenteeism has improved from 29% a few years ago to 17.5%, in line with state levels. With a student–teacher ratio of 10:1 and per-pupil spending of roughly $15,500, West View pairs strong resources with strong results, making it a standout choice for families in northeast Tennessee.
