Summary

Mt. View Elementary School is a PK–5 school in Antioch, TN, serving about 963 students as part of Metro Nashville Public Schools, a district ranked in Tennessee's bottom 11%. The school has historically ranked in the lower quarter of Tennessee elementary schools, but it has been climbing: in 2025–2026, it ranked 757th out of 1,019 (26th percentile), its best showing in over a decade and a big jump from the 10th percentile in 2021–2022. Mt. View spends a relatively high $17,248 per student and has a student-to-teacher ratio of about 16.6.

Math is Mt. View's clear strength. At 40.8% proficiency in 2025–2026, math scores are well above the district average (32.4%), close to the state average (43.0%), and the highest among nearby traditional public schools. Fourth-grade math reached 50.3%, beating both district and state averages, and overall math proficiency has climbed from just 22.2% in 2022–2023. English Language Arts remains the biggest gap, at 27.9% proficiency versus the state's 40.6%. Science sits at 31.3%, ahead of most nearby traditional schools but below the state's 46.9%. Chronic absenteeism is a bright spot at 16.6%, lower than the district (23.3%), the state (18.3%), and every nearby Metro Nashville public elementary school. The school also earns strong results with English Learner students (80th percentile statewide) and has shown sharp improvement with African American, Hispanic, and low-income students over the past two years.

Compared with its neighbors, Mt. View is the strongest traditional public elementary in the area, outpacing Cane Ridge Elementary (38.3% math), Thomas A. Edison Elementary (30.8%), Una Elementary (21.6%), and Eagle View Elementary (17.2%). But KIPP Antioch College Prep Elementary School, a charter school just half a mile away serving a similar community with similar per-student funding, posts notably higher results in every subject (46.4% math, 54.6% ELA, 53.6% science) and lower chronic absenteeism (6.7%). Mt. View's improving attendance, rising state percentile, and genuine strengths in math and with underserved student groups show it is moving in the right direction, but sustained work in literacy and science is needed to raise its overall 1-star rating.
