Volunteer State Virtual Academy Elementary School is a K–5 virtual school in Hohenwald, TN, serving 614 students under the Lewis County Schools district. The school has ranked near the bottom of Tennessee elementary schools for several years, placing in the 11th percentile statewide with a 1-star rating in 2025–2026. While this is an improvement from the 8th percentile in 2024–2025 and the 3rd percentile in 2023–2024, it still places the school in the lowest tier of state performance.

Academic proficiency at the virtual academy is far below district and state averages.
