Forge Ridge School is a small PK-8 school in Harrogate, Tennessee, serving 132 students as part of Claiborne County Schools, a district ranked in the bottom 20% statewide. The school's own ranking has been volatile: after reaching a standout 60th percentile in 2023-24 (3 stars), Forge Ridge slipped to the 33rd percentile in 2024-25 and then to the 19th percentile in 2025-26 (1 star). With only 15–20 students per grade level, year-to-year swings can be exaggerated, but the decline is broad and consistent across subjects.

Forge Ridge posted strong 2025-26 results in 7th grade ELA (58.3% proficient vs. 35.9% statewide), 8th grade math (45.5% vs. 38.3%), and 7th grade science (50% vs. 47.8%). Social studies improved steadily from 24.4% in 2023-24 to 39.5% in 2025-26, suggesting instructional practices worth replicating. But the weakest areas are in early grades — 3rd grade math and science proficiency were just 18.2% and 13.6%, far below state averages, possibly reflecting attendance challenges and gaps in early elementary instruction. The challenge ahead is extending middle-grade successes to younger grades while addressing the chronic absenteeism that sets Forge Ridge apart from every nearby school.
