Summary

Crump Elementary is a public elementary school in Memphis, Tennessee, serving 544 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Memphis-Shelby County Schools district, which is ranked 135 out of 139 districts in the state and has a 0-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Crump Elementary consistently ranks in the bottom 10-15% of Tennessee elementary schools, with proficiency rates in TNReady Mathematics, English Language Arts, and Science that are significantly lower than the state and district averages, often by 20 percentage points or more. The school also struggles with high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 20.2% to 29.5% in recent years. Crump Elementary's performance is particularly weak in 5th grade, where proficiency rates are the lowest across all grades. In comparison, nearby schools like Ross Elementary, Winridge Elementary, and Newberry Elementary generally outperform Crump Elementary in academic proficiency, ranking in the top 50-75% of Tennessee elementary schools.

While Crump Elementary struggles to serve its diverse student population effectively, the school performs relatively better for its Hispanic and English Language Learner student populations, ranking in the top 50% of Tennessee elementary schools for these subgroups. This suggests that the school may have some effective practices or programs in place that could be leveraged to improve outcomes for other student subgroups. Addressing the high chronic absenteeism rates could also be a key focus area for the school, as regular attendance is crucial for academic success.

Open Quote I wish this school was more professional. My daughter started her cycle for the first time at school and she was embarrassed because all of her classmates saw that she had blood coming from her pants. I went to the and brought clothes and wipes so she could clean herself up but they allow her to leave class because it was 2pm. They told me everything was ok because they gave her a pad and shorts to change into but made her keep the same bloody underwear on. They would allow her to put on fresh underwear just because the time wasn’t before 2pm. Please make it make sense. Close Quote
