Summary:

Langford Area School District 45-5 has four schools serving the Langford area: two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, with 258 students in total. Current results are mixed: the high school and Langford’s elementary and middle schools post several results above state levels, while Newport Colony’s reported ELA score is far lower. The clearest concern is Newport Colony Elementary, where 12% of students were proficient in all-grades ELA in 2025–2026, 37 points below the state’s 49%.

Langford Area High School stands out at the top: its 2025–2026 11th-grade results were 73% in ELA, 60% in math and 53% in science, respectively 25, 26 and 8 points above state results; its graduation rate was 100%, compared with 88% statewide. Among the elementary and middle schools, Langford Area Elementary has the strongest reported all-grades results: 58% in ELA and 60% in math, 9 and 16 points above the state. Langford Area Middle School is also above state levels, at 50% in ELA and 52% in math, but its seventh-grade ELA result is only 27%, 26 points below the state. Newport Colony’s ELA result is 12%, while its current math score was suppressed. Because schools serve different grade spans and Newport’s math result is unavailable, these comparisons are not fully like for like.

Recent changes show different patterns: Langford Area Elementary’s ELA fell 11 points from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, while its math rose 12 points; Langford Area Middle improved by 7 points in both ELA and math. SchoolDigger ranks the high school in the 93rd percentile with 5 stars, up from the 30th percentile the prior year, while the middle school is in the 60th percentile with 3 stars, up from the 31st percentile in 2023–2024. All four schools report the same low-income measure, free/reduced lunch eligible, for school year 2024–2025: 36% at Langford Area Elementary, 31% at the high school, 43% at the middle school and 7% at Newport Colony. Enrollment ranges from 44 to 111 students, and student-teacher ratios range from 11.8 to 15.7.
