Charleston Collegiate School

We have withdrawn two of our kids from the middle school at Charleston Collegiate. Both high academic achievers. This is the worst school we have ever experienced. First of all, the academic preparation our kids received was woefully inadequate. They teach to the lowest level of learning in the class and in this school, the kids who have been attending since the elementary school are well behind their peers in other schools at this grade level. The school fails to create a culture of excited and disciplined learning, and they fail to provide a safe campus where students feel valued and rewarded for their accomplishments. Unless you are the daughter or son of the Head of School or the Vice Principal of the Middle School. Yes, lots of favoritism here! Do not believe any of the recruitment marketing if you are considering this school. They are desperate for kids in seats and parents are easily fooled by their talk of "project based learning" and "outdoor education". The bottom line is that their academic standards are well behind what is offered in the Charleston County public school system.
