The school has earned a consistent 4-star rating over the past decade, with a current state ranking of 148th out of 649 elementary schools in South Carolina (77th percentile).

One of the school's standout strengths is its exceptional performance with students from low-income backgrounds and students of color. In 2023-2024, the school ranked in the 97th percentile statewide for African American students and the 96th percentile for Hispanic students—both earning 5-star ratings. The school also excels with students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, achieving a 93rd percentile ranking in 2023-2024. Additionally, Simpsonville has made remarkable progress in serving disabled students, jumping from the 50th percentile in 2023-2024 to the 86th percentile in 2024-2025. The school also maintains impressively low chronic absenteeism at 15.1%, compared to the district's 22.5% and the state's 22.3%—a significant advantage that likely contributes to academic success.

While the school performs well in early grades—with 79.8% of 3rd graders proficient in English Language Arts and 75.8% in math, both above district averages—4th grade math and science represent notable weak points. Only 55.2% of 4th graders were proficient in math (below the district's 60.9%) and 54.3% in science (versus 67.2% district-wide). When compared to nearby schools, Simpsonville sits in the middle: Monarch Elementary (ranked 13th) and Bell's Crossing Elementary (ranked 65th) outperform it, while Greenbrier Elementary (143rd) and Bethel Elementary (130th) are comparable. With per-student spending of $11,916—higher than several better-performing neighbors—Simpsonville demonstrates that serving a diverse population requires substantial resources to achieve solid, reliable results.

Open Quote Our granddaughter has been there since K4 and has always had fabulous teachers. I am so thankful to this school. I am a firm believers that the way children are treated in elementary has a huge effect on the rest of the school years. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is great! For the most part. The assistant principal is not exactly welcoming or friendly. The door has been slammed in my daughter's face on many occasions, making my husband have to pull around to park, and check her in tardy. 5 tardies, and they punish the children with detention for something out of their control. My child has had 2 excellent teachers, and 2 not so hot ones. Honestly, if we could switch schools, we would. At the end of the year the teachers play "dodge ball" and get out their aggression by nailing the children with the balls. My daughter, and several others came home crying. If not for the administration and some of their ridiculous rules, I would give 5 stars. If you have a choice, please by all means choose another school in the district. This is elementary school. Not a prison!! Close Quote

Open Quote Simpsonville Elementary has great teacher morale. The principal knows all the kids and the kids love her. PTA is very active. SES has great "extra" programs like, Chorus, Garden Club, Skippers (jump rope) Club, Safety Patrol, Morning News Show, and Spanish Club. This is a great school that feels like a big supportive family. Close Quote
