Summary

Chandler Creek Elementary is a PK-5 school in Greer, SC, serving 873 students within the Greenville 01 school district, a district ranked in the 85th percentile statewide.

Chandler Creek provides a solid, average educational experience compared to the rest of South Carolina, but it sits in a neighborhood with some of the state's top-performing elementary schools. While the school earns a 2-star rating (50th percentile), nearby Skyland Elementary (97th percentile) and Buena Vista Elementary (96th percentile) achieve proficiency rates 20–30 points higher in reading and math. For example, Chandler Creek's 3rd-5th grade ELA proficiency is 58.1% compared to Skyland's 89.8%, and math proficiency is 48.9% versus 81.5% at Buena Vista. The school does show genuine strengths: it performs above the state average in 4th grade science (58.9% vs. 51.6%), and it earns 3-star ratings for its support of Hispanic students and English Language Learners. However, a dramatic decline in support for students with disabilities—from the 68th to the 29th percentile in one year—is a concern that warrants attention.

The biggest challenges are attendance and upper-grade math. Chronic absenteeism sits at 20.2%, nearly double the rate at Brushy Creek Elementary (9.8%) and Woodland Elementary (11.9%). Academically, proficiency declines as students advance: 3rd grade math is 57.9%, but 5th grade math drops to just 37.7%—22.7 points below the district average. The school serves a 100% free/reduced lunch population, and its student-teacher ratio of 16.9 is among the highest in the area. While the school has improved attendance from 23.9% in 2021-2022, families should know that addressing attendance and supporting upper-elementary math will be critical to closing the gap with neighboring schools.

Open Quote Chandler Creek Elementary is growing in leaps and bounds. The school has recently gone Title 1, which means that we have federal funds to help expand our technology, hire more teachers and offer support to students and parents alike. Of all the schools my children have attended, Chandler Creek Elementary ranks #1. Mrs. Mills, the current principal, and her staff truly care about each child and their success in the classroom and beyond. Close Quote
