The five middle-level schools in the Lexington 05 district serve grades 5 through 8 across the Chapin and Irmo/Columbia areas of South Carolina, with enrollments ranging from 557 to 1,007 students. This is a strong district overall, ranking in the 83rd percentile statewide, but the schools within it show dramatic differences in performance, attendance, and resource use.

Chapin Middle is the clear academic leader, ranking 33rd in the state with a 5-star rating. Its 8th-grade ELA proficiency (75.1%) and math proficiency (66.2%) far exceed district averages, and it achieves these results while spending the least per student ($12,605) and having the highest student-teacher ratio (14.9:1). Chapin Intermediate also performs well, with 6th-grade proficiency rates around 65% in both ELA and math and the lowest chronic absenteeism in the district at just 6.5%.
