Summary:

Four public schools in ZIP code 02878 serve 1,351 students from pre-K or kindergarten through grade 12: two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The clearest choice-making signal is that results vary sharply between schools, especially at the elementary level: Ranger School leads the local grade-3 results by a wide margin.

Ranger School is the strongest standout in the latest comparable elementary results, with 75.8% proficient in grade-3 ELA and 72.6% in math. Those results are 31.6 and 19.1 percentage points above Pocasset School, respectively; Pocasset’s scores are 44.2% in ELA and 53.5% in math. Tiverton Middle School is above state results in most reported areas, though its grade-7 ELA and grades 6 and 8 math results are slightly below state figures. Tiverton High School combines a 93.2% graduation rate with stronger ELA than math: SAT ELA is 56%, above the state’s 47.8%, while SAT math is 22%, just below the state’s 23.5%. SchoolDigger gives Ranger five stars and a 98th-percentile rank; the other schools rank at the 74th, 63rd and 55th percentiles, respectively.

Recent changes are mixed, with Ranger’s gains driving the improvement in the three RICAS schools’ equal-school average: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, Ranger rose 21.8 points in ELA and 11.7 in math, while Pocasset slipped slightly and Tiverton Middle fell 4.4 points in ELA and 2.9 in math. At the high school, SAT ELA was nearly unchanged and its advantage over the state widened, while PSAT10 ELA and math declined. SchoolDigger’s recent ranks also diverged: Ranger rose from the 75th to 98th percentile over three years, while Tiverton Middle fell from 73rd to 63rd and Tiverton High from 67th to 55th. For context, Ranger and Pocasset have similar enrollment, but reported student–teacher ratios are 14.1 and 16.1, and free/reduced-lunch rates are 26.89% and 42.38%; these figures describe school circumstances, not explanations for achievement. Because schools serve different grades and use different tests, their overall results are not all directly comparable.
