Open Quote My 12th grade daughter and 10th son have been at GFS since kindergarten and it has been a wonderful experience. We feel very lucky to have them attend GFS. The teachers all the way through have been excellent, and want to work with the students to enable the students to do the best they can. The teachers are also always available for any questions or help, from students or parents, which makes the experience feel very collaborative. The academics are top notch, and my children have been neither bored nor overwhelmed, leading them to really love school. The other families are truly wonderful--you'll want to be friends with all of them! The arts and music are taken very seriously at GFS, and are not considered second tier subjects. Close Quote

Open Quote GFS is a wonderful school. It gives kids a strong academic experience within a nurturing, supportive community. My son loves going to school and complains if he has to miss a day! The teachers are what make the school so good. They really take the time to get to know each child and work hard to meet their needs. Close Quote

Open Quote Germantown Friends School (GFS) is an incredible and unique learning community! As a family, we are thrilled to be part of a diverse community (diversity among teachers and families) where the students:
1. are encouraged to be active participants and advocates in their learning;
2. are supported in their individuality;
3. have opportunities to explore & study art, theater, music, philanthropy, history and culture locally/nationally/internationally;
4. and create relationships with teachers/staff that enable them to grow and challenge themselves while feeling supported.

I often tell my children that I wish I had attended Germantown Friends School. It is truly a wonderful place to learn, explore, & grow! Close Quote

Open Quote This is an excellent well rounded school. The academics provided are challenging and stimulating but you also have the aspect of being involved with athletics, community service and clubs. I could not be happier with the school community and the support provided by Germantown Friends School. Close Quote

Open Quote Great school, dedicated teachers, and creative well rounded kids. What other school hosts an A Cappella festival and can also boast a Phillies first-round draft pick? Yeah, I'm biased, but I didn't look for another place to work even after I moved 10 miles away. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
