As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote 7Gen is a wonderful school. Especially in the difficult school year (due to covid) of 2020-2021, the communication from the administration has been outstanding and the quality of the teaching has been wonderful. The school has an excellent health and safety plan that has students in the building 4 days/week (most local public school districts currently offer 2-3 days with hybrid) and we have confidence that students will be educated in-person fully as soon as it's safe to do so. There is much excitement surrounding the purchase of our school building and upcoming renovation. I feel so fortunate that my kids can learn, grow, thrive, and be kids in such a wonderful school environment. Close Quote

Open Quote We love 7 Gen! My daughter is attending her 3rd year there and we love it. My son has just started kindergarten there and it's fullday with only 15 children per class. They learn so well there, are challenged and do so many hands on projects the kids love it. Every day my kids are eager to go to school and learn! Thank you 7 Gen! Close Quote

Open Quote My kids adore Seven Gen--they love getting outside every day, hiking around South Mountain, doing interesting service projects in the community. I love how committed and passionate the teachers are, and how the principal/CEO gives everyone her cell phone number and is so accessible. My 1st grader is going on NINE field trips this spring, and doing 4th grade level math; my 3rd grader can sing songs in Spanish and is starting her second independent project this year, collecting data and reporting to the weekly school assembly about a science topic she's passionate about, a project 100% devised and executed by her. That's what I see in a lot of Seven Gen kids -- initiative, creativity, passionate interest in serious topics, joyful engagement with their community. They take their responsibility for the earth very seriously and are committed to making a difference. I really feel like the kids are being taught to live and breathe the core value of mutual respect--for each other, for the teachers and staff, for their community, and for the earth. We love Seven Gen! Close Quote

Open Quote I continue to be impressed with the outstanding education provided at SevenGen! My children come home everyday with stories of their learning, how they had a two hour hike for a pond exploration, and yesterday - they taught me a Native American greeting song! They get disappointed on the weekends when they can't go to school. I am so thankful for the opportunities that my children receive and the AMAZING amount of effort that the staff and administration put into their work so that the children have an wonderful experience, while teaching all "required" materials and remaining true to the mission and vision of this "green" school. Open Quote This is an amazing school filled with very caring and dedicated teachers. The children thrive because of the safe environment and the exciting curriculum. They learn so much about the environment and how to make the world a better place. Children spend a good part of each day learning outside. All children deserve to go to a school like Seven Gen! Open Quote My son started here in the middle of kindergarden and I can not imagine a better school for him. The classes are much smaller than the regular public school and we get a lot of feedback from his teachers as issues arise. There is a strong sense of community from the school with people who are able to volunteer during the day, during night time committee meetings or weekend projects. Close Quote

Open Quote My child has attended this school for several years. His academics...math and reading, have taken off. They have a wonderfully socially nurturing environment. I believe they are better organized this year with the new director. I do not feel that the original directors were any more organized....in fact, the first year was definately the most unorganized. The academics and social environment is wonderful. Proficient in reading and Advanced in Math for the PSSAs. Not too shabby. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is very disorganized, everything is planned last minute. Since firing the original Directors, the school seems to be concerned only with fundraising, and less with family involvement. For the parents that work, myself included, it seems that things are constantly sent home the night before, or 1-2 days before, that makes it impossible for us to plan far ahead enough to attend. Also, the staff, for the most part, seems to look down upon those of us who can volunteer 20 hours a week. My children will definitely be attending a new school in the fall Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
