Reedsport Community Charter School

Reedsport Community Charter School is a K–12 charter school serving roughly 550 students on one campus in Reedsport, Oregon, a coastal community where it is the only school within 20 miles and effectively the entire Reedsport School District 105 — which means district and school results are identical in nearly every measure, leaving statewide averages as the only real comparison available.

Attendance is the clearest success story. Chronic absenteeism has dropped five years in a row, from 50.0% in 2020–21 to 38.1% in 2024–25, shrinking the gap to the state from 21.9 points to 4.6 points. Graduation is a different picture: the five-year average is 66.2% against a state average of 81.6%, and the yearly figures swing widely — from 51.0% to 75.0% — with no clear trend. On 2025–26 state tests, 29.5% of students met the standard in English language arts (state: 43.8%), 18.1% in math (state: 32.9%), and 17.9% in science (state: 30.6%). The shortfalls are widest in math and science, where the school reaches only about 55–58% of the state rate, and narrowest in English language arts.

Grade-by-grade results follow an unusual shape. Third and fourth grades sit close to state — 4th grade English is only 2.0 points behind — and 11th grade English actually matches the state at 46.9% versus 46.0%. But grades 5 through 8 fall off sharply: 5th grade English and math are both at 9.5%, and 11th grade math is under 5% proficient versus 22.9% statewide. Because only about 40 students sit in each grade, these percentages shift easily and are best read as directional signals rather than precise scores. The school spends roughly $19,000 per student, down 16.3% from its 2022–23 peak.
