Arlington Community Charter School

Arlington Community Charter School is a small alternative public charter school serving about 130 students in grades K–12 in Arlington, a rural town on the Columbia River in Arlington School District 3, where no other schools operate within 20 miles—so the Oregon state average is the most useful comparison available.

Academically, results are mixed. In English language arts, 45.5% of all students tested proficient in 2025–2026, slightly above Oregon's 43.8%. Middle-grade reading is a clear strength: 58.3% proficiency in 6th grade and 64.3% in 8th grade, both well above state averages. Math and science are the weak spots, with only 16.7% of students proficient in math and 19.2% in science, compared with 32.9% and 30.6% statewide. Every reported grade level trails the state in math. The graduation rate fell to 55.0%, far below Oregon's 83.0%, after reaching 100% the previous year—a swing that can happen in a tiny graduating class. The school serves many students from low-income families, with 71.54% qualifying for free or reduced lunch, and spends more than $40,000 per student, with a student–teacher ratio around 11:1 in the years it was reported.
