Sweet Home School District 55 is a high-poverty Oregon district with seven schools — five elementaries serving grades K-6, one junior high for grades 7-8, and one high school for grades 9-12 — enrolling about 2,249 students. Those district-wide numbers, however, hide very large differences from school to school.

Sweet Home Charter School is the clear standout: 111th of 709 elementaries (84th percentile, 4 stars), with ELA at 58.8%, math at 62.5%, and science at 40.0% — all above district and state. It also has the district's lowest chronic absenteeism (24.5%) and lowest free/reduced lunch rate (62.68%), despite the lowest per-student spending ($5,755) and highest student-teacher ratio (23.6). Among traditional elementaries, Holley Elementary School leads (57th percentile, 3 stars), with math at 36.4%, above the state's 32.9%. Oak Heights Elementary School stands out in science at 45.9%, far above the district's 20.8%, but spends the most per student ($25,164).

Science is the district's biggest weakness, and results vary sharply: Foster Elementary School posts 5.1% and Hawthorne Elementary School 6.7%, while Foster has slipped from 3 stars to 2.
