Summary:

The Western Heights area has seven schools—four elementary, two middle, and one high school—with enrollments from 191 to 771 students. Across the schools, 2025–2026 All Grades averages were 11% proficient in ELA and 14% in math, compared with state results of 26% and 25%. The clearest area-wide takeaway is that results generally fall below state levels, though math is relatively stronger and one school exceeds the state in that subject.

Winds West Elementary School led math at 30%—5 points above the state and 19 points above the other six schools’ average of 11%. Greenvale Elementary School led ELA at 18%, 8 points above the other schools’ average of 10%, but 8 points below the state. At the lower end, John Glenn Elementary School had the lowest ELA result, 3%—9 points below the other schools’ average and 23 points below the state. Western Heights Middle School had the lowest math result, 5%, while the other schools averaged 16%.

Average results improved over time: ELA rose from 9% in 2024–2025 to 11% in 2025–2026, and math from 9% to 14%; state ELA stayed at 26%, while state math moved from 26% to 25%. Science changes differed by school: Bridgestone Elementary School gained 8 points and Western Heights Middle gained 7, while Western Heights High School fell 8 points. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile for Winds West rose from 14 to 36, while the high school’s fell from 16 to 8. As context, the four elementary schools reported about 97%–98% free/reduced lunch eligible in 2024–2025; Bridgestone instead reported 98% directly certified for free meals that year and is likely a Community Eligibility school, meaning all students receive free meals. Ratios also varied, from 11.2 at Western Heights Middle to 21.8 at John Glenn; these measures describe differences, not causes of test results.
