Forgan

Forgan has two small schools serving PK–12: Forgan Elementary School serves PK–8 and enrolls 76 students, while Forgan High School serves grades 9–12 and enrolls 28. The clearest academic contrast is that high school ELA is well above the state result, while mathematics is a weakness at both schools: in 2025–2026, ELA proficiency was 43% at the high school and 14% at the elementary school, but math was 13% and 11%, respectively, compared with 25% statewide.

The high school stands out in ELA and U.S. History, while its science and math results—and the elementary school’s results in both shared subjects—are below state figures. High school ELA was 17 points above the state’s 26%, and U.S. History was 65%, 24 points above the state’s 41%; its science score of 18% was 12 points below the state, and math was 12 points below. Elementary ELA was 12 points below the state, and its math score was 14 points below. Chronic absenteeism was low at both schools in 2025–2026: 0% at the high school and 4% at the elementary school, compared with 16% statewide. Recent changes were mixed, with high school ELA improving but History and science declining. From 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, high school ELA rose 8 points to 43%, while U.S. History fell 10 points to 65% and science fell 7 points to 18%; elementary ELA slipped 1 point to 14%, and math rose 1 point at each school. The high school’s 2024–2025 graduation rate was 91%, 13 points above the state’s 78%. In 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible figures were 59% at the elementary school and 50% at the high school; student-teacher ratios were close at 13.6 and 14.0. SchoolDigger ranks the Forgan district 94th of 450, in the 79th percentile, with four stars; its high-school ranking improved from 180th of 439 in 2022–2023 to 126th of 462 in 2025–2026.
