Wister Elementary School serves prekindergarten through grade 8, and Wister High School serves grades 9–12, for two schools in Wister. The latest results show different strengths by subject: the high school leads in English language arts, while elementary leads in math, and both have low chronic absenteeism compared with the state. Most importantly, results across the subjects reported at both schools moved farther below state performance overall: the average fell from 21% to 15%, while the gap from the state widened from 6 to 12 percentage points.

Wister High stands out in English language arts, with 31% proficient in 2025–2026, 5 points above the state’s 26%; Wister Elementary had 8%, 18 points below the state. In math, elementary led the two schools at 10% versus 3% at the high school, but both were below the state’s 25%. The schools tied in science at 18%, 12 points below the state, and the high school’s U.S. History result was 36%, 5 points below. One bright spot within elementary was third-grade math: 40% proficient, 7 points above the state. Results declined from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026 in all three subjects reported at both schools.
