Ruffing Montessori School

It is with great concern that we must share our experience with Ruffing Montessori. While several of our children attended this school for many years, we can no longer recommend it as a safe place for children to learn and grow. Our experience has shown that the school discriminates against students who are neurodivergent or have disabilities, despite having a policy against such discrimination. This policy was created after the school lost a federal lawsuit brought by three families whose children were disenrolled, including a child with autism and two other students with disabilities.

Unfortunately, we found that the school does not adhere to its policy and staff and leadership are not equipped to work with children who have learning differences, disabilities, or are neurodivergent. The school's leadership also seems uninterested in making meaningful improvements in this area. We have spoken with many parents whose children have been regularly discriminated against, including a teacher who is unwilling to recognize or make accommodations for students with ADHD. Our own child reports that many teachers yell and scream at students, and this has been confirmed by other parents we have spoken to.

We feel it is our responsibility to share this information with other parents who may be considering sending their children to Ruffing Montessori. Based on our experience, we strongly advise against it. It is our hope that the school takes steps to address these issues and create a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
