Summary
Dennis Elementary is a large, high-performing school serving 853 students in grades 2–5 at 1695 S Main St in Springboro, Ohio, a suburban community south of Dayton. Its district, Springboro Community City, ranks 65th of 773 Ohio districts (92nd percentile) with a 5-star rating, and Dennis itself is a consistent 4-star school that placed 271st of 1,560 Ohio elementary schools in 2025–2026, in the 83rd percentile. Results have been stable for years, staying between roughly the 78th and 89th percentiles.
Within the district, the most useful comparison is Five Points, also grades 2–5 and about 3.7 miles away, which is 5-star and in the 93rd percentile. Five Points posted higher proficiency in six of seven comparable 2025–2026 tests, with the widest gap in grade 5 ELA (91.6 versus Dennis's 77.4). Math is a relative strength for Dennis: it beats the state by 21.5 points in grade 3, 17.4 in grade 4, and 19.0 in grade 5 math, and grade 5 science is 10.8 points above state. Chronic absenteeism is 6.6%, below the district's 8.2% and far below nearby non-Springboro schools such as Miller Ridge Elementary School at 24.9%. Most other nearby schools, in Franklin City, Middletown City, Miamisburg City, and Carlisle Local, rank much lower.
Two areas are worth watching. Grade 5 ELA slipped to 77.4 from 84.1 the prior year and 86.1 the year before, and grade 3 ELA also declined. Effectiveness for low-income students dropped to the 49th percentile (2 stars) from 79th three years earlier, and special education effectiveness eased to the 61st percentile (3 stars), while most other student groups rank in the 78th–83rd percentile range. Finally, the reported 100% grade 6 math score is an anomaly for a grades 2–5 school and should not be read as a normal Dennis result.
