Norwood Elementary School is a K–5 school of 445 students in West Jefferson, Ohio — a Madison County community about 20 miles west of Columbus — and it is the elementary school for the Jefferson Local district. In 2025-26, Norwood's proficiency beat the Ohio state average in all seven reported grade and subject areas, by an average of roughly 7 points, with the biggest margins in 5th-grade science (+10.9) and 5th-grade ELA (+7.4). The school currently ranks 598th of 1,560 Ohio elementary schools (62nd percentile, 3 stars), a step down from four straight 4-star years in the low 70s. Fifth-grade ELA has been unusually steady at 79.4, 79.4 and 80.5 percent proficient against a state figure in the 67–70 range.

My son has attended Norwood since the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. Communication with his teacher is outstanding. I can tell that she really cares about her students and wants them to be successful. My son is eager to go to school every day and even wishes he could go on the weekends!!! Norwood is a relatively small school and I feel like the teachers really know my son (yes - even this early in the school year). I can hardly believe that I ever considered sending him elsewhere. Keep up the awesome work, Norwood Elementary Teachers, Administrators & Latchkey Staff!!!! Close Quote
