Summary

Eastmont Elementary School is a PK–6 school serving 414 students at 1480 Edendale Rd in Dayton, Ohio, part of the Dayton City district, which ranks 725 of 773 Ohio districts (6th percentile, 0 stars). Eastmont's own 2025–2026 rank is 1288 of 1560 (17th percentile, 1 star), and its recent history has mostly sat in the 19th–32nd percentile, peaking at 32nd percentile in 2023–2024 before falling to 17th. Chronic absenteeism, though, is a clear bright spot: 18.1% in 2025–2026, down sharply from 43.4% in 2021–2022 and far below the district rate of 43.8%, and better than same-district peers Horace Mann Elementary School (28.2%) and Cleveland Elementary School (25.8%).

Academically, Eastmont generally outperforms its own district but trails state averages and nearby suburban schools. Its strongest results in 2025–2026 came in 3rd grade math (54.8% proficient vs. the district's 29.3%) and 3rd grade ELA (48.8% vs. 38.1%), while its weakest was 6th grade ELA at 13.2%, below the district's 22.8% and far below the state's 56.0%. Third grade has also slipped noticeably, with ELA falling from 86.5% in 2023–2024 to 48.8% and math from 76.9% to 54.8%. The local contrast is striking: Parkwood Elementary School, less than a mile away, ranks at the 72nd percentile with 4 stars and had 5th grade math at 78.1% and ELA at 82.2%, while Beavertown Elementary School posted 85.1% and 80.9% in those subjects.

Statewide subgroup effectiveness rankings are low across most groups Eastmont serves, including students in special education, students from low-income families, and Hispanic, White, female, and male students, all in the bottom fifth or lower. The school's student-teacher ratio of 21.7 in 2024–2025 is the highest among nearby comparison schools, and its per-student spending of $10,002 is lower than other Dayton City peers. Overall, this is a school with real engagement gains and district-leading 3rd grade results, but with declining rank, a significant 6th grade ELA gap, and uneven results across student groups worth monitoring.

Open Quote I went to eastmont from 1st to 5th grade and i hated it, the atmosphere was aggressive and unsupportive. Although there were a few teachers that actually did their job, most just gave out busy work and then went on to do something else without really teaching the students. The teachers could not control the children and even framed children for offences without a shred of evidence to back up their story. It would have been an enlightening experience accept for the fact that i was young and my mind was easily molded. In the end I believe that if you are looking to send your child to eastmont park school, keep looking cause there are definately better schools than that one. Close Quote
