Keystone Local is a three-school Ohio district serving students from prekindergarten through 12th grade, with roughly 1,387 students split among Keystone Elementary School (PK–5, 655 students), Keystone Middle School (6–8, 340 students), and Keystone High School (9–12, 392 students). The district as a whole ranks 248th of 773 in Ohio, placing it in the 68th percentile with 3 stars — but that middle-of-the-pack figure masks very different results at each school.
Keystone High School is the clear standout: 162nd of 795 schools, 80th percentile, 4 stars, a 96.5% graduation rate, and above the state in all six End-of-Course subjects, often by wide margins (Biology 87.6 vs. 67.0; English II 81.2 vs. 62.7). Its rank has improved every year. Keystone Middle School follows at 69th percentile with 3 stars, and its Algebra I results are exceptional — 100% proficiency two years in a row, against state rates around 60%. It also beats the state in most 7th- and 8th-grade subjects. Keystone Elementary School is the weakest by rank at 49th percentile with 2 stars, though 4th-grade math, 5th-grade math, and 5th-grade science are above state.
Three items are worth watching. Elementary has slipped from 59th percentile and 3 stars in 2023–24, with 4th-grade ELA now 11.8 points below state and 3rd-grade math also trailing. Middle’s 6th-grade math was below state in both years. And chronic absenteeism rises sharply by level: 6.9% at Elementary, 16.9% at Middle, and 24.9% at High — a clear concern even alongside the high school’s strong scores. Free/reduced lunch is similar across all three schools (35.11% to 39.03%), so simple demographics do not explain the differences in outcomes.
