Summary:

Clearview Local is a small district in Lorain, Ohio serving about 1,237 students across three schools that together cover grades K–12: Vincent Elementary School (K–4, 456 students), Durling Middle School (5–8, 448 students), and Clearview High School (9–12, 333 students). The district is ranked 634th of 773 Ohio districts, in the 18th percentile with a 1-star rating, and all three schools also carry a 1-star rating with latest rank percentiles in the bottom third of the state (Vincent 30th, Durling 24th, Clearview High 23rd).

Each school has a distinct profile. Vincent Elementary has the district's lowest chronic absenteeism at 31.1% and a bright spot in 3rd grade ELA at 63.3%, essentially matching the state's 63.4% and up from 50.0%. Durling Middle stands out for an unusual split in math: Algebra I End of Course proficiency is 80.0% versus 61.6% statewide, yet general math is very low — 5th grade 13.6%, 6th grade 21.0%, 7th grade 24.0%, and 8th grade 9.9%, compared with state rates of 59.1%, 56.2%, 48.6%, and 52.0%. Clearview High has the strongest overall signs: a 92.6% graduation rate and double-digit gains in Biology (37.2% to 61.8%), English II (38.9% to 58.9%), Geometry (9.7% to 29.1%), and American History (55.7% to 73.7%, slightly above the state's 73.2%). However, American Government fell from 77.7% to 56.3%, and the high school's absenteeism is 57.5% — far above Vincent's 31.1% and Durling's 41.0%.

Overall, math is the district's clearest shared weakness, from Durling's general middle school results to Clearview High's Algebra I (21.7% vs. 61.6% statewide) and Geometry (29.1% vs. 43.3%). Rank history shows stagnation or decline: Durling and Clearview High dropped from 2 stars to 1 star, and Vincent also fell to 1 star in the latest year. Note that free/reduced lunch data is unavailable, so poverty context cannot be assessed, and per-student spending figures date from 2018–2019.
