Summary:

Riverside Local is a small Ohio district with just two schools — Riverside Elementary School, serving grades PK–6 with 327 students, and Riverside High School, serving grades 7–12 with 260 students — for a combined enrollment of about 587, with the district rated 2 stars and sitting at the 44th percentile among Ohio districts.

Riverside Elementary School is the district's bright spot. It earned 3 stars in each of the last three years and climbed from the 54th to the 61st percentile in state rankings. In 2025–2026 it scored above the state in 8 of 9 reported test areas, with math especially strong in 3rd through 6th grades, and its chronic absenteeism rate of 12.7% is below the district's 15.7%. The exception is 6th grade English language arts, where 42.2% of students were proficient versus 56.0% statewide, down from 47.6% the year before.

Riverside High School had a strong 2024–2025 (61st percentile, 3 stars) but fell to the 45th percentile and 2 stars in 2025–2026. Its 98.2% graduation rate is excellent, and it outperforms the state in American Government (81.8% vs 71.6%), American History (80.0% vs 73.2%), Biology (75.0% vs 67.0%), and English II (66.7% vs 62.7%). Math, however, is a serious concern: 7th grade math is 15.0% versus the state's 48.6%, and Geometry is 20.4% versus 43.3%; 8th grade ELA is also below state at 47.7%, and absenteeism runs 20.2%. Note that free/reduced lunch data is blank and spending figures date from 2018–2019, so some context is missing.
