Shawnee High School is the only high school in Shawnee Local, a district serving the Lima, Ohio area, so everything that happens at the high-school level in this district happens in one building — 673 students in grades 8 through 12 on Zurmehly Road. Because there is just one school, the school's results and the district's high-school results are effectively the same story, with two small exceptions noted below.

Academically, this school performs well above Ohio averages. In 2025-26, proficiency rates beat the state by 14 to 25 percentage points in all six tested End-of-Course subjects, averaging about 82% proficient compared with roughly 63% statewide.
