Summary:

Bowling Green City School District serves roughly 2,439 students in five schools: three elementaries (Conneaut Elementary School, Crim Elementary School and Kenwood Elementary School), one middle school and one high school. District-wide it ranks 263 of 773 districts (66th percentile, 3 stars), but that single rating hides wide variation among buildings — two schools are 4-star, two are 3-star and one is 2-star.

Conneaut Elementary School is the strongest elementary: 81st percentile, 4 stars, improved to 300 of 1,560, above the state in all seven reported subjects, and just 5.8% chronic absenteeism against a district rate of 13.1%. Its 5th Grade Science score of 89.3% (state 62.7%) leads the way. Bowling Green Middle School is the other 4-star school and the fastest riser, climbing from 326 to 215 of 1,046; its Geometry End of Course score is 100% proficient and Algebra I 97.9%. Bowling Green High School is 3-star, 66th percentile, with a 97.1% graduation rate and results above the state in all six End of Course exams.

Kenwood Elementary School is a school of contrasts: 59th percentile with a rank that slipped from 491 to 642, the highest reported free/reduced lunch rate at 44.37%, and excellent 5th Grade Science (93.2%) and 3rd Grade ELA (85.2%), yet below state in 3rd Grade Math, 4th Grade Math and 4th Grade ELA, with 4th Grade Math falling from 78.6% to 58.7%. Crim Elementary School is the clearest concern: 2 stars, 34th percentile, three straight years of decline, below the district in all seven reported subjects and above the state only in 3rd Grade ELA, with 16.0% chronic absenteeism. Its free/reduced lunch rate is not reported. The gap between Conneaut and Crim is the district's main equity question.
