Peninsula, Ohio is home to four schools — one elementary, one middle, and two high schools, the second being a virtual academy serving grades 6–12 — all within the Woodridge Local district, together enrolling 1,983 students. The district ranks 303 of 773 Ohio districts, at the 61st percentile with 3 stars, but performance varies considerably from school to school.
Woodridge Middle School is the academic standout, ranking at the 71st percentile with 4 stars and beating the state in most tested subjects: 8th grade math at 70.1% vs. 52% statewide, 7th grade ELA at 75.4% vs. 62.7%, 8th grade ELA at 74.2% vs. 58.3%, and 8th grade science at 72.7% vs. 61.2%, with 100% Algebra I proficiency. Its weak spot is 6th grade ELA, at 52.6% vs. the state's 56%. Woodridge High School improved its rank percentile from 45 to 62, with strong results in American Government (84.3% vs. 71.6% state), American History (82.7% vs. 73.2%), Biology (75.6% vs. 67%), English II (73.4% vs. 62.7%) and Geometry (53.7% vs. 43.3%), plus a 97.5% graduation rate; its Algebra I score of 55.3% trails both district and state. Woodridge Elementary School, the largest school at 904 students, is above the state in every tested ELA grade and in 4th grade math, but below state in 3rd grade math and slightly below in 5th grade science.
Woodridge Virtual Academy, with only 39 students, is a clear outlier: chronic absenteeism of 54.7% is more than double the district's 23.3%, its student-teacher ratio of 39 is roughly three times that of the middle and high schools, and it has no reported 2025–26 rank. Absenteeism is lowest at the elementary school (20.9%), while middle (24.0%) and high (24.8%) sit close to the district average. Per-pupil spending is nearly identical across the three traditional schools, so funding gaps do not explain the differences in results.
