Summary:

Fort Recovery is a small, single-district community in western Ohio, where Fort Recovery Local serves roughly 997 students across three schools: Fort Recovery Elementary School (PK–5, 513 students), Fort Recovery Middle School (6–8, 190 students), and Fort Recovery High School (9–12, 294 students). There are no alternative schools here, so essentially every child in town moves through the same three buildings. The district ranks #27 of 773 Ohio districts — the top 3% statewide — and no individual school is a weak link.

The three schools are all high performers, with different strengths. Fort Recovery High School is ranked #21 of 795 Ohio high schools, posts a 100% graduation rate, and records 100% proficiency in American History and 96.4% in Biology. Fort Recovery Middle School (#44 of 1,046) has the strongest absolute test numbers in the district: 100% Algebra I proficiency in both years, 95.6% in 8th-grade Science, and 93.7% in 7th-grade Math against a state rate of 48.6%. Fort Recovery Elementary School (#104 of 1,560) is the improvement story, climbing 100 rank positions in a year and holding the district's lowest chronic absenteeism at 2.9%.

Across all 21 school-level tests, proficiency averages about 89% versus roughly 61% statewide. Strength is deepest in math and science; reading is strong but the least dominant area, and it is where the clearest year-over-year declines appeared (8th-grade ELA and high school English II). Note that grade-level cohorts here run only about 60–75 students, so a single student shifts results by more than a percentage point — the consistent multi-year rankings matter more than any one year's move. Absenteeism is low everywhere but rises with grade level (2.9%, 3.4%, 4.1%), and per-student spending is modest and tightly clustered at $9,008–$9,558.
