Frazer K-8 School

Summary:

Frazer K-8 School is a public elementary and middle school in Syracuse, New York, serving 770 students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. Despite its diverse student population, the school consistently ranks among the lowest-performing schools in the state, with significant achievement gaps between different racial and ethnic groups.

Frazer K-8 School's academic performance is consistently well below the state and district averages across all grade levels and subject areas. The school's statewide ranking has ranged from 2,164 to 2,395 out of around 2,400 elementary schools in recent years, indicating that it is struggling to provide a high-quality education to its students. This is particularly concerning given that the school has a very high percentage of students from low-income families, with over 92% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

When compared to nearby schools within the Syracuse City School District, Frazer K-8 School generally performs worse academically, with lower proficiency rates in English Language Arts and Math. However, the school's racial diversity is higher than many of its neighbors, such as Franklin Elementary School, Solvay Elementary School, and STEAM at Dr. King Elementary School. This diversity could be seen as a potential strength, but it will likely require targeted interventions and support programs to address the persistent achievement gaps observed at the school.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I use to go to that school and all the teacher care about you and what they are teaching. It was the best school that i ever been to and it a great school for all students to be. I learn alot of thing while having fun doing it. I also love the way that most of the teacher teach and how fast i learn from them. I am happy that i use to go to that school and make alot of friend that i care for. The best thing about Frazer school was all the little kids that always say Hi' to me and always making me smile. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
