With 326 students, the school consistently ranks among the top 25% of elementary schools in the state, reaching as high as the top 7% in 2015-2016.

One of the school's key strengths is its strong academic performance. School 9e-Boardman consistently outperforms the Oceanside district and New York state averages in proficiency rates for English Language Arts and Math across all grade levels. For example, in 2024-2025, the school's 6th grade Math proficiency rate was 89.74% compared to 71.32% for the district and 51.2% for the state. The school also performs exceptionally well for Hispanic students, ranking in the top 9% of New York elementary schools for this subgroup in 2024-2025.

Other factors that contribute to School 9e-Boardman's success include its low student-teacher ratio of 10.7 in 2023-2024 and its high per-student spending of $25,881 in 2023-2024, which is significantly more than the state average. Compared to nearby schools like Steele Elementary School in the Baldwin Union Free School District, School 9e-Boardman still performs better on most academic measures.

Open Quote This school is terrible, so I don't know how it has five stars. A lot of the students are disrespectful and simply obnoxious. The worst part is the teachers. Most of them have no control over the classes or do not run it as it should be. Close Quote

Open Quote This is a wonderful school! I have three children at 9E and each have had a wonderful and unique experience. There is a focus on the whole child, not just a test score! I feel truly fortunate to be in this district. Close Quote
